Thank you to everyone who helped make our Annual Fall Festival and Community Day on Saturday, October 12, 2013 a blessed event and wonderful success.
In spite of what the weatherman predicted, God gave us a picture perfect day in which to have fun, fellowship, and food. The children were able to enjoy Arts & Crafts, face painting, a moon bounce, board games, hula hoops, and basketball.
Their parents were also able to sign them up at our registration table for our PrimeTime Kids afterschool program which will start on Monday, October 21, 2013. You can contact the church office and leave a message for Trustee Norene Awkward in order to get more information.
Our bake sale offered many delectable goodies. All of the proceeds went towards the church’s building fund.
The church gave away hot dogs, snacks, sodas, and waters to all in attendance and everyone who just walked passed to see what was going on.
We also would like to thank the service partners who came and shared information with our neighbors. Representatives from the Philadelphia Water Department, Philadelphia Corporation on Aging, and Healthy Start were all on hand to provide value literature and answer any and all questions.
Our two entertainment suppliers did a tremendous job in keeping the day fun and eventful. India Mixson, owner of The India Experience provided the gospel music, while Jennifer Chestnut Donald, owner of Music on the Move Entertainment, provided the moon bounce, popcorn and cotton candy machine.
It was a pleasure to work with two professional Christian African American women business owners.
The centerpiece of our activities was our Clothes Give Away.
Pleasant Grove was blessed to receive contributions of women, men, and children’s clothes from many generous donors. We were able to provide clothes to 68 families on this one day. To God Be The Glory.
This summer has been a blessing! Starting with our SuperKids program which ran from Monday, July 22nd to Friday, August 02 we had a blast with the children of our community. Each day we had Bible stories, Bible verse memory work, arts and crafts, songs, games, and snacks. Our Theme was “Who Is Jesus”. By the end of the two weeks, all of the children indeed knew who Jesus is. Three children confessed Jesus as their personal Savior by the end of the program.
We followed up with our Vacation Bible School which ran from Monday, August 05th until Friday, August 09th. The theme for this week was “Jesus Family Reunion: The Remix”. Our special thanks goes out to all of the volunteers from Miller Memorial Baptist Church and Providence Baptist Church of Chester who helped make this a spiritually enriching experience for our children as well.
We look forward to this fall when we hope to establish our PrimeTime Kids afterschool program so we can continue the work God has given us to do. Please keep Pleasant Grove Baptist Church and our Youth Program in your prayers.
Start children off on the way they should go,
and even when they are old they will not turn from it.

On Saturday, May 04, 2013 we had 60 visitors come through our doors. We decided to add two additional days. On Monday, May 06 we had 10 visitors, Tuesday, May 07 – 11 visitors, and on Wednesday, May 08 another 31 guest came to our clothes give away. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you to everyone who worked so hard to make our Pre-Mother’s Day Clothes Give Away a blessing. All of the donations of clothes and accessories went to make the life of a woman a little brighter. A special thank you to those who volunteered their time during our four day event. Because of your efforts we were able to provide clothes, information, and encouragement to all of our guest. We could not have done this without your help. Our most sincere gratitude is also extended to the women of Miller Memorial Baptist Church. Your willingness to serve with us, and the beautiful spirit you exhibited did not go unnoticed. Lastly, we would like to thank all of the organization who shared the information about our drive with your clients. We enjoyed meeting and talking with each and every one of them. We look forward to working with you again.
On Saturday, May 04, 2013 and again on Wednesday, May 08, 2013 the women and friends of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church will be giving away women’s “gently used” clothing. We have collected some beautiful articles of clothing and look to be a blessing to women who may be in need of some nice outfits. We also have shoes, belts, handbags, and jewelry.
We have items that are suitable not only for Mother’s Day worship services or brunch, but for all types of occasions:
o Job interviews
o Legal appointments
o Work attire
Our prayer is that we will be able to reach as many women as possible during this two day event. Please share this information with any of your friends, family, clients and co-workers who may be in need of this missionary effort on behalf of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
